CAREGIVING: GET THE FACTS
Caregiving often results in chronic stress, which comprises caregiver’s physical and psychological health. Depression is one of the common negative effects of caregiving. Caring for a person with dementia is particularly challenging, causing more severe negative health effects than other types of caregiving.
SELF-REGENERATION & REBIRTH
You don't have to do it ALONE. If you are affected by the emotional and financial toll of caregiving THE BLESSINGTON HOUSE is the solution you have been seeking. SELF CARE is essential to stay healthy and effectively support your loved one as a caregiver. You are worthy of and deserve to have BALANCE in your life.
THE BLESSINGTON HOUSE DIFFERENCE
Blessington House is locally owned and operated by Narita Callis Snead MPH, MSN, APN-BC, a nurse practitioner with over 15 + years of healthcare experience. Her practice is centered on geriatric population health and built upon the concept of holistic care models. She understands the need to have a creative solution that offers patient centered compassion, humanity and human connection. Social isolation and social disconnection are documented bidirectional and complex relationships between mental health issues and social disconnectedness. Isolation, a common problem for the geriatric population, poses a serious public health concern among older adults.
She also understand and empathizes for caregivers that are placed in the unfortunate situation of having to make the choice of who to care for first in dire caregiving situations. For example, a Generation X caregiver providing care to their grandchild that is recovering from an asthma attack and in the same moment getting a phone call that your mother has just fallen and possibly broken her hip. Or, perhaps being called in to the office of your boss to discuss concerns of your chronically missed and tardy days into the office–because Dad’s PAID caregiver was LATE again coming in to relieve you so that you can go to work and afford the opportunity of having a caregiver.
A respite and residential home care option that provides high quality care in a comfortable, loving, private home setting. We offer the gift of BALANCE and PEACE OF MIND back in your life.

COST OF CARE
The potential need for long term care is a topic most people would rather avoid. But not talking about it doesn’t make the issue go away. It only delays planning and leads to potential confusion and financial impact for not just those who may need care, but their family and friends. The reality is that seven out of ten people over the age of 65 will require long term care at some point. If that statistic is a surprise to you, you’re not alone.
CAREGIVER SELF-ASSESSMENT
This 18-item, caregiver self-report measure was devised by the American Medical Association as a means of helping physicians assess the stress-levels of family caregivers accompanying chronically ill older adult patients to their medical visits. Take the test. Are you stressed?
